The science of reaching your soul

The gongs are one of most ancient instruments, dating back to the bronze age, used by different cultures as a tool for transformation and healing. Modern science has confirmed the deep effects on measurable changes in the blood cells, hydrating the cells and making them more fluid. Read more

The gongs also synchronize your energy to the same frequency as the electromagnetic field of the Earth – 7, 83 Hz. According to Quantum theory everything is energy, and with the vibrational waves of the gong every atom in your energy field is affected by its resonance.

Gong waving the brain

In times of stress and informational overload, we easily fall into incoherent brain states. The gong guides us back to a coherent state and inner order, into the eye of the storm. The first brainwave state is reached quickly and is called Alpha state. These brainwaves are associated with relaxation. Research studies have shown that Alpha states promotes the release of naturally occurring chemicals such as melatonin, beta-endorphin, and dopamine.

These chemicals generate an internal mental environment for new learning and accessing already learned information. The Theta brainwave state which falls between 4-7Hz rapidly follow the Alpha brainwaves. Theta waves occur when we take part in deep meditation or in a dream-like state yet are conscious of our surroundings. In this state, we feel most inspired and creative. Therefore, the optimal range for de-stressing and healing of the nervous system to occur is between Alpha and Theta.

Lady Gong

I was a concert pianist for many years, starting at the age of 6, struggling with perfectionism, anxiety and stress because of the environmental expectation of me as a “promise”. After finishing my musical education I hit the lock of the piano and never played again. This was the cruelest separation and maybe the biggest loss I have experienced. Beside of all the stress, music was my channel for emotions and my biggest love.

It took me 20 years to find my way back to an instrument and if it wasn`t for my meeting with the gongs, maybe I would never had found my way home.

When I play the gong, I always start with honoring each of my gongs, asking them for permission to be a channel for their unique potential and healing capacity.

Then I ask the receiver of the sound bath to cooperate, invite the multi-layers of harmonic sound and let each of the gongs connect to their hearts.

I am doing nothing at all. I just do as a colleague once told me to do “pray, play and get out of the way”. The brain entertainment is not my show, I`m just the audience. The brain entertainment is a natural effect of the stimuli of the sound which beneficially modifies brainwave frequencies.

Gong meditation synchronizes the brain waves without you doing anything at all. And maybe that is the greatest gift of a sound bath – we get an opportunity to let go of our own doing mode, the state which is the biggest obstacle to entering our being mode – which contains everything we need to find the power and life force within us.

After 10 years as a professional yoga therapist and performance coach within the corporate world, national health system and schools, I have realized that the Gong is without any doubt, the most efficient tool for relaxation and balance.
